The differences that actually matter
A model you can host yourself versus a closed service
Flux ships with open weights: you can run it on your own machine or a server, integrate it by API and fine-tune it to a style of your own. Midjourney exists only as a paid service and cannot be self-hosted. If you need technical control or generation at scale inside a product, that difference settles everything.
Text inside the image
Flux is among the models that render legible words best, which matters a lot for posters, covers and thumbnails. Midjourney has improved but remains less reliable with typography. For an image without text the comparison runs elsewhere; the moment letters appear, it does not.
