This is the decisive criterion and the one that varies most. Some tools grant commercial rights only on paid plans; others retain a share or require attribution. If the music goes in a monetised video, also check that the platform's rights system will not flag it as someone else's.
Whether you can download separate stems
Getting a single mixed file is fine for background music and little else. If you are laying audio under video, being able to download drums, bass and melody separately is what lets you duck an instrument when a voice comes in. It is called stem export and not every tool offers it.
How much control you have over structure
Typing a style and accepting the result is fast and hard to control. For real work you need to fix the exact length, mark where the chorus lands or ask for an instrumental version. Without that you end up generating twenty times until one fits the video.
Whether the voice sounds human
In narration, the gap between tools is in intonation and pauses, not pronunciation, which is already correct almost everywhere. Test them with a minute of your own text: one promotional paragraph and one explanatory one quickly reveal which sounds like a machine reading.
Before you pay, keep this in mind
Generating a song "in the style of" a specific artist is slippery ground: style is not protected, but imitating a recognisable voice can infringe personality rights, and several platforms take that content down even when the tool let you generate it. With voice cloning the practical rule is the same as in video: your own voice is fine, someone else's only with express written permission.

Can I monetise AI-generated music?
It depends on the tool's licence and your plan. Several grant full commercial rights on paid plans, and some do not on the free tier. On top of that, registering something entirely AI-generated as your own work is not possible in several countries, even where using it commercially is.
Is it usable as background music for video and podcasts?
It is the use where it works best today. You can request a specific length and mood and generate until something fits, which a fixed stock library will not let you do. Just confirm the licence covers monetisation and that you can export without an audio watermark.
Can you tell a song was made with AI?
In instrumental background music, less and less. In songs with lead vocals it still shows in diction, breaths and phrase endings. As accompaniment it goes unnoticed; as the centrepiece, not quite yet.
