What is Grammarly?
Grammarly is an AI writing assistant that spots and fixes grammar, spelling, punctuation and style errors as you type, and works in the browser, on desktop, on mobile and across more than a million applications. Since 2025 it has been part of the Superhuman suite: Grammarly itself acquired the Superhuman email client in July that year and in October adopted that name for the whole company, so Grammarly became the writing product inside a suite that also includes email (Superhuman Mail) and collaborative docs (Coda).

What Grammarly is like in practice
Where it stands out
It corrects as you write wherever you write — email, documents, browser — and that is its real value: you never have to remember to use it. It goes beyond spelling and flags convoluted sentences, inappropriate tone and repetition, which is where most people slip without noticing.
Where it falls short
It is built for English and its Spanish correction is far more limited: if you write in Spanish, do not expect the same level. It also has to see everything you write in order to work, which in work contexts with sensitive information is a decision worth checking before installing.
How its pricing works
The free version handles spelling and basic grammar and for many users that is enough. The price jump to paid buys style and tone suggestions. Following its acquisition by Superhuman, it is worth checking which plan you have active, as the product catalogue has been reorganised.
